Do you work with other issues besides relationships?
Yes! I’m happy to help anyone who is struggling, whether it’s with stress, depression, anxiety, grief, or other life difficulties.
Are you going to make me take medication?
No, not at all. I’m a psychologist, so I do talk therapy. I’m not a psychiatrist, who prescribes medication. 99% of the people I work with never take medication. However, if you or I thought that you could benefit from it, we would discuss it and ultimately the choice would be yours.
Do you work with men too?
Absolutely! Women aren’t the only ones who struggle with relationships and career goals. Men also want to have relationships that feel good and are long-lasting, and get to a higher level in their careers.
What if I want to come in for couples counseling but my partner doesn’t?
Then, by all means, come in on your own. When there is a shift in one person, it leads to a shift in the relationship also. Since both partners bring their own unresolved issues to the relationship, working on issues “on your side of the fence,” so to speak, can help ease some tension in the relationship. This can create space for your partner to look at things differently and perhaps even behave differently. For a more detailed response to this common question, please read my blog article What if I Want Couples Counseling but My Spouse Doesn’t?
Are you going to tell me what to do?
No, my role is to help you to become clear on what you want in life and to enable you to take the necessary steps to get there. I can help you to see what patterns you have been repeating in your life and why, and then help you to let them go when they are getting in the way of your success in your personal relationships or your career. We’ll discuss your thoughts, feelings, and options, and in that way you’ll be thinking clearly and feeling empowered as you make your own decisions.
Do you work with couples too?
Yes, I work with couples also. Many couples struggle due to past unresolved issues that they are bringing to the current relationship. Then they go on to repeat patterns with each other; patterns that are hurtful to each other and detrimental to the relationship. I help couples to understand and let go of the past. Then I go on to help couples understand each other better and communicate in a more loving and honest manner, which helps each person to feel understood and secure in the relationship.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. My office manager is an insurance specialist. She will check your benefits, submit your claims, and have the insurance companies send the funds directly to my office. Therefore, you never have to wait for insurance reimbursement yourself. Although I am not an “in-network provider,” I do take insurance and work with insurance companies, including Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Empire Blue Cross, GEHA, Humana, Optum, Oxford, UMR, United, and others. My office manager will provide you with the information regarding your out-of-network insurance coverage, as well as explain your benefits to you in an easy, uncomplicated manner. She will then file the paperwork on your behalf. It is my and my office staff’s goal to make this process as easy as possible for you.
What is your fee?
Your cost per session will depend upon your specific insurance benefit plan. If you do not have insurance, or choose not to utilize your insurance benefits, then my office manager will make every effort to find a payment plan that works for you.
